Use of a subcutaneous pedicle ulnar flap to cover skin defects around the wrist.

چکیده
A subcutaneous pedicle ulnar flap used to cover a skin defect around the wrist is reported. Unlike the standard ulnar flap, which is isolated around the dorsal branch of the ulnar artery and its associated veins, this flap is based on the ascending branch of the dorsal branch of the ulnar artery more proximally to obtain a longer vascular pedicle. A subcutaneous pedicle flap that contained the ascending branch, its associated veins, and a superficial vein was obtained. The disadvantages of the standard ulnar flap can be overcome by this design, which provides greater mobility, preserves the healthy skin between the rotation point and the defect, and eliminates contour abnormalities.

Dorsal hand coverage
The dorsum of the hand is a very specialized region with thin and fragile skin characterized by poor subcutaneous tissue. The dorsal aspect of the hand is frequently prone to different types of injuries (crush, degloving, hot press, friction...) resulting in exposed tendons and bone. The treatment of cutaneous defects may be obtained with local pedicle flaps, distant pedicle flaps or with free ...
متن کاملCoverage of neuroma in continuity
Neurogenic pain can develop after microsurgical repair of a median nerve injury or when the lesion is underestimated and therefore not treated at all. Nerve injury with neuromatous pain may be associated with tumefaction at the wrist, increased pain and tingling when tapped [1]. The aim of the treatment is to both minimize pain and preserve residual function of the median nerve. Surgical proced...
متن کاملSoft-tissue coverage of olecranon with musculocutaneous flexor carpi ulnaris flap.
Coverage of the olecranon area is always challenging in traumatology. Because of the superficial situation of the bone, the absence of muscle, the thinness of the skin and the subcutaneous tissue locally, skin defects are not uncommon and can lead to exposure of hardware or prostheses. We report an original surgical technique using a musculocutaneous flap from the flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) wit...
متن کاملInterpolated subcutaneous fat pedicle melolabial flap for large nasal lining defects.
Full-thickness nasal deformities are a reconstructive challenge. Restoration of a reliable internal lining is critical for a successful reconstruction. Septal hinge flaps are the workhorse for internal lining defects. However, these and other intranasal mucosal flaps are sometimes unavailable due to prior harvest or previous oncologic resection. We present the two-stage interpolated subcutaneou...
متن کاملA 10-year experience in nasal reconstruction with the three-stage forehead flap.
Because of its ideal color and texture, forehead skin is acknowledged as the best donor site with which to resurface the nose. However, all forehead flaps, regardless of their vascular pedicles, are thicker than normal nasal skin. Stiff and flat, they do not easily mold from a two-dimensional to a three-dimensional shape. Traditionally, the forehead is transferred in two stages. At the first st...
